Roadmap

How we fund an open print engine

Open source builds trust and community, but sustainable development takes revenue. We run a hybrid, open-core model: the engines that route and standardize print data stay public, and the AI built on top of them is what we sell.

The open-core model

Free, open-source core

Developers · production managers · junior engineers

The core routing engine, device adapters, and JDF/XJDF handling behind QueueVIO are public. This is what drives adoption among IT-savvy print shops tired of paying for closed, restrictive software.

Paid AI modules

Growing shops that need prediction, not just routing

Predictive scheduling, auto-imposition, and validation modules build on the open core and ship as premium, subscription add-ons.

Enterprise cloud

Multi-site operators and OEM partners

A hosted orchestration dashboard that connects every local agent — open-source or paid — into a single AI-powered view across sites.

Phased execution

Phase 1 · 0–6 months

Foundation

  • Launch the open-source QueueVIO core
  • Open public GitHub repositories
  • Standardize JDF data outputs for easy export
Phase 2 · 6–12 months

AI injection

  • Add computer-vision checks to print validation
  • Build predictive scheduling into the queue manager
  • Ship JDF/XJDF telemetry standardization
Phase 3 · 12+ months

Ecosystem

  • Launch the paid cloud orchestration hub
  • Form integration partnerships with press vendors
  • Open an AI-print integration directory

Working with OEMs

Print hardware manufacturers are building AI-driven digital ecosystems around their machinery, and their software teams move slowly. Open, well-documented tooling gives their engineers a faster path in — and gives us a long-term integration partner.

Start with open validation

OEM engineering teams need reliable tools to test their own drivers and workflows. Our open-source testing and validation tools give them that, license-free, and structure their press error logs for their own internal reliability models.

Grow into integration

As routing and imposition tools prove out on a shop floor, we offer custom driver, firmware, and API work that connects them directly to specific, multi-million-dollar digital presses.

Scale with SLA support

For deployments where downtime isn't an option, we offer enterprise SLA contracts: guaranteed patch timelines and dedicated support for mission-critical press lines.
